Prosper, Texas – The town of Prosper is advancing with plans to introduce a cricket pitch and pickleball courts to the Lakewood Preserve park. Currently, the park has a trail, natural regions, and a playground for children aged 2-12. With a budget nearing $5 million sourced from the 2020 bond, city fees, and general funds, further enhancements are in progress. The update about Lakewood Preserve park comes at a time when Prosper Independent School District unveiled plans for new stadium in the area.
Overseeing the project is developer Hines, who will shoulder park design and platting costs, offsetting park fees. As per a town council presentation on September 26, changes in the park’s development have been made. Prosper Parks Director, Dan Baker, highlighted these changes which encompass fine-tuning the pond’s design, omitting sand volleyball courts, and introducing four pickleball courts and a cricket pitch.
This endeavor signifies the town’s premiere pickleball courts and cricket pitch. In addition to these, the park will be furnished with three illuminated soccer fields, playground equipment designated for kids aged 2-5, a basketball court, baseball backstops, a restroom, trails, landscaping, and ample parking with 76 spaces.
As Baker recently expressed, the initial construction meeting is imminent, indicating that active progress on the park’s expansion is anticipated shortly.
